Oyama Bruce Majola
Oyama was born on the 27th of December 1991 in Khayelitsha. He attended Little wood Primary School and completed Level 4 education at Mitchell’s Plain School of Skills. His passion for soccer developed in Primary School and eventually Oyama was selected to represent the Western Province Schools Team in Mpumalanga. During 2010, Oyama initiated a 5-a-side soccer club that played in the rural development league at the state-of-the-art sports hub within Ikhuse Primary School in Khayelitsha.
The birth and early life of his daughter made Oyama realise the drastic lack of opportunities available to girls who wanted to play sports, especially in Khayelitsha. Currently, he cares for the elderly at an old-age-home in Heideveld. Whilst caring for so many others in his life, the long night shifts of his work continuously keep him away from his young family. This is one of the reasons he is committed to growing Ikasi Soccer School alongside his co-directors to provide a new life for him and his family.
Oyama coordinates a large amount of Ikasi logistics for tournaments, Excursions and the essential transportation for the girls. He not only strives to build stronger relationships and partnerships for Ikasi but, also tries to make sure each girl has a meal to eat. Often Oyama checks in with parents and teachers of the girls to build trust and communication with Ikasi. After practices he even borrows his Mum’s car to drop girls off at home to ensure their safety. Oyama is committed to providing guidance regarding operations and administration requirements that are beneficial Ikasi.
